Back in 2013, a website was launched to monitor Bitcoin nodes, bitnodes.io. It has useful information such as lists for IP addresses for reachable Bitcoin nodes and various charts:

In 2015 Balaji Srinivasan's Bitcoin mining toaster startup 21 Inc pledged support for the service:

A few days ago, in May 2026, after 13 years of operation, the website went down and the domain expired.

As a result of the loss of this service, we have launched a new website and we are slowly adding some features, to replace the features of the old website. We have a Spanish domain, rather than an Indian Ocean one.

We include a live chart showing the number of Bitcoin Core nodes before and after the release of v30, as well as Bitcoin Knots and BIP-110 coin nodes. The data shows that Knots and BIP-110 coin nodes are more popular on Tor, while Bitcoin Core v30+ is more popular on IPv4 and IPv6.

We have also reproduced the stacked area chart of node popularity over time. You can see our new version and the Bitnodes.io versions below. Unfortunately we did not save the old historical data and therefore our chart starts from May 2026.

We also reproduced the old world map chart, showing the distribution of Bitcoin nodes across the world. Our map is clickable, in that one can click on a country and see a list of nodes from that country.

Just like the old website, we have a node explorer, where one can look through lists of nodes.

Each node has its own page, showing all the details our crawler could identify.
