A Recap of Getting Started with Trading Bots by BitMEX and ProfitView

In partnership with our partner, ProfitView, the BitMEX team hosted a webinar for users looking to explore the use of trading bots for crypto derivatives.

Led by trading experts from both companies, the session “Getting Started with Trading Bots”was designed to upskill attendees on how to get started withautomated crypto tradingby learning to set up and run a basic grid bot on BitMEX using the ProfitView platform.

The session provided a starting code framework for participants to improve and refine following the session.

A Summary of the Session on Crypto Trading Bots

The webinar started with the participants being walked through the fundamental concepts related tocrypto trading botsincluding:

• What is trading

• The concept of signals

• ProfitView’s bot infrastructure

• The different types of bots

• Régimes and their relation to algorithms

• Grid bots as a basic type of trading bot

The session then moved onto a trial demo of a grid trading bot running on BitMEX, for attendees to gauge how a crypto trading bot works in practice.

To then guide users through setting up thecrypto trading boton their own, attendees were given a live demonstration of:

• Setting up API keys on BitMEX and ProfitView

• Setting up and implementing the code for trading bots

The webinar was wrapped with a Q&A where attendees asked questions related to the trading bot’s adjustment to market movements, ProfitView’s integration with external libraries, reasons to use ProfitView and BitMEX, and more.
