The BitMEX VIP Programme is an exclusive tiered structure designed to recognise and reward sophisticated digital asset traders, high-volume participants, and investors who actively contribute to the BitMEX ecosystem. Unlike a standard account, the VIP Programme provides access to optimised trading conditions, personalised services, and elevated privileges that improve capital efficiency, maximise profitability, and ultimately improve your trading experience on the platform. 

As a BitMEX VIP, you can enjoy exclusive benefits, such as reduced Spot and Futures trading fees, flexible trading limit configurations, increased trading credit amounts, dedicated 24/7 customer support, exclusive BitMEX merch giveaways, and top-tier personal rewards for each VIP tier you reach.

BitMEX offers multiple flexible pathways for sophisticated traders and high-net-worth investors to achieve VIP status. We recognise that value is generated in various ways, and we are committed to rewarding your contributions with exclusive benefits.

You can achieve VIP status instantly through four distinct routes:

1. Volume and Staking Requirements (Standard Qualification)

The most direct way to qualify is by meeting the minimum requirements outlined in our tiers.

Trading Volume: Qualify by achieving the minimum 30-day trading volume required across our Futures and Perpetual Swaps contracts.

BMEX Token Staking: Alternatively, you can qualify by maintaining the minimum amount of BMEX tokens staked within your account, recognising your long-term contribution to the BitMEX ecosystem.

The user needs to maintain the staking for at least 30 days to be qualified.

2. VIP Status Matching (Instant Access for Returning Users)

For returning users who have previously registered at BitMEX or are already recognised as a high-tier client in other exchanges, our VIP Matching Scheme offers the fastest route to instant benefits.

To qualify, simply provide verifiable proof of your current VIP status on a competing external exchange (e.g., Binance, Bybit). Our Relationship Management team will immediately match your current tier for an introductory period, allowing you to access BitMEX benefits without having to hit volume requirements first.

Exclusive Invitations (Ad-Hoc Basis)

For strategically important clients and partners, we reserve the right to grant VIP status on a discretionary basis.

This pathway involves receiving a bespoke, ad-hoc invitation directly from the BitMEX Sales Team. These invitations are typically reserved for top-tier market makers, large institutional referrals, or strategic partners who bring significant long-term value to the platform.

You may refer to the rewards table above for the minimum requirements. Please note that the VIP Trading Gifts are only rewarded to those who achieve their level via the trading volume requirement.

Your VIP level will be updated automatically based on the requirements of each VIP tier. Once achieved, your account will receive the VIP trading benefits within 24 hours, and your updated VIP level will be displayed on your dashboard. 

Yes, all trading volume from your Sub Accounts will be included in the calculation of your VIP level. 

New users can become BitMEX “Invited” VIPs by providing proof of their latest 30-day trading volume on other platforms, including crypto exchanges, traditional brokers, prime brokers, and FX brokers. Users who meet the trading volume requirements will receive a two-month VIP+1 upgrade, enjoying exclusive privileges such as up to 80% off trading fees.

For existing users, core trading benefits (including optimised trading fees) are applied immediately based on your current tier. However, to be eligible to receive the quarterly rewards (VIP gifts or trading credits), you must re-verify your status by meeting the required trading volume during that quarter's evaluation period.

The VIP Gift is a physical gift and can be issued on a one-time basis upon unlocking a highest historical VIP tier. Achieving the same VIP tier previously attained allows you to claim the Trading Credits value of the physical item instead. Therefore, physical prizes can only be claimed in the first instance for achieving any given VIP Tier. The VIP Trading Credits are always granted based on the reward level achieved within any applicable quarter.

Yes, but the benefits are applied based on two different cycles: immediate trading benefits and quarterly reward distribution.

Immediate Trading Benefits (Always Applied Instantly)

When your 30-day trading volume qualifies you for a new tier (e.g., moving from VIP 1 to VIP 2), you will immediately receive the upgraded trading benefits for the higher tier. E.g. Optimised Fee Rates: You instantly receive the lowest fee structure of the highest tier you qualified for.

Quarterly Rewards (VIP Gift vs. Trading Credits)

VIP gifts, Trading Credits, and Trading Benefits are distributed quarterly based on your achieved tier, subject to the following rules:

VIP Gift: VIP Gifts are always granted upon unlocking the highest VIP tier within any applicable quarter, subject to the eligibility and rewards terms above. If you advance through multiple tiers within a single quarter, you will only receive the VIP Gift or Reward corresponding to the highest tier unlocked.

Example: If you qualify for VIP 1, VIP 2, and VIP 3 in Q2, you will get to select one gift from the tier options associated with VIP 3 (the highest level achieved). If you maintain or qualify for VIP 3 again in Q3, the reward will be issued, however only the Trading Credit value of the physical item can be claimed. If you then qualify for VIP 4 in Q4, you will receive one option of the VIP 4.

VIP Trading Credits: VIP Trading Credits rewards are calculated quarterly and are always provided based on the highest tier achieved in any quarter. They are not cumulative, you do not receive each reward amount for every tier passed within a single quarter.

Example: If you qualify for VIP 1, VIP 2, and VIP 3 within a single quarter, you will receive only the VIP 3 Trading Credits (the highest level achieved). If you then maintain or re-qualify for VIP 3 in the next quarter, you will receive the VIP 3 Trading Credits Reward again.

Rewards will be distributed within 14 working days after the end of each programme.

Disqualification and Abuse: BitMEX reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any participant found to be violating these Terms and/or the Terms of Service here, engaging in fraudulent activity, or engaging in any form of activity that is misrepresentative in nature (as solely determined by BitMEX). In addition to disqualification, such behaviour will mean the forfeiture of any awards made to date, and we reserve the right to deduct from your account any costs and expenses incurred dealing with such activities. Such behaviour includes, but is not limited to:

• Creating or controlling multiple accounts (whether using real or synthetic identities) to repeatedly claim rewards.

• Using automated scripts, bots, or similar tools to manipulate the campaign process.

• Accessing the campaign or platform using multiple accounts with patterns of interaction that suggest automation or coordination.

• Any attempt to interfere with the proper operation of the campaign or the BitMEX platform.

We reserve the right to modify the offer structure, benefits and other features at any time without further notice, including but not limited to cancelling, extending or terminating this campaign. We also reserve the right to exclude any user from the offer.
